BillPayer Legal Disclosure
This agreement governs the use of your Internet BillPayer Service. By enrolling in BillPayer, you the credit union member hereby authorize Hawthorne Credit Union to make payments on your behalf by debiting your designated HCU checking account and transferring the funds to the designated payees as indicated by you via Internet BillPayer. The agreements, rules, and regulations applicable to your checking accounts, savings accounts and other accounts, serviced by Hawthorne Credit Union, remain in effect and continue to be applicable, except as specifically stated in this agreement.
BILLPAYER AGREEMENT AND DISCLOSURE
By accepting this agreement, you will receive Hawthorne Credit Union's (HCU) Internet BillPayer service for free. However, if you do not complete at least one Online Bill Payment during any given month you will be changed a $4.95 inactivity fee.
FEES
BillPayer is free after you enroll, however, if you sign up for BillPayer and do not use it to pay one bill or more within any given month, a
$4.95 fee will be charged. This is because Hawthorne Credit Union provides BillPayer for free as a benefit to our members, but it is a cost that the Credit Union has to incur. If you sign up for BillPayer, but do not use the service, there is still a cost to the Credit Union. We do not want to have to pay for this service if it is not providing a benefit to you.
There is a $29 fee when you request a bill be paid and there are insufficient funds on the scheduled payment date.
If you ask us to resolve a payment issue that is determined to not be the fault of HCU you will be charged a payment inquiry fee of $15. If we agree to stop payment on a BillPayer check, there will be a fee of $23.
Fees described above apply to the use of HCU's BillPayer service. Additional fees may be incurred for late payments or insufficient funds on your account. We reserve the right to modify the fees charged with 30 days notice.
Generally, fees will be charged to your HCU checking account under which the bill pay service is enrolled. However, we reserve the right to collect fees due from any account on which you are an authorized signer.
QUALIFIED PAYEES
Payments may be made only to payees with a United States payment address. You may not pay governmental agencies, including but not limited to the Internal Revenue Service, all state and local tax authorities, collection agencies as well as recipients of court ordered payments like child support and alimony. You may select payees from the master list which is provided or you may add additional qualified payees.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You are responsible for completing the "payee screen" completely so that our remitter can properly identify your payee and payee's address, and so your payee can properly credit the payment when received on your behalf. You must keep HCU updated with your email address, current mailing address and telephone number so we can contact you if we have questions about your payees.
SETTING UP NEW PAYEES
From BillPayer, click "Find Payee" to select a payee from the master list, or click "Add Payee" to add an additional payee. The remitter will verify payees that you add before they become available for you to initiate the first payment. This process will take approximately ten (10) business days. When your payee has been verified, the payee status will show as "available". Payees selected from the master list have already been verified and you may request a payment be made on the next HCU business day.
SETTING UP PAYMENTS
From BillPayer, click "Add Payment" and enter the payment amount. A single payment may not exceed $9,999.99. If you must remit an amount greater than $9,999.99, you may send multiple payments to the same payee. There is no minimum payment amount. Once a payment has been established, the information will be displayed in your Pending Payment List. Payment information may be modified by you an anytime prior to processing. Changes made after 6:00 a.m. EST will take affect on the next HCU business day.
SCHEDULING PAYMENTS/PAYMENT FREQUENCY
When scheduling payments, please allow 2 business days for electronic payments to reach the payee and 5 business days if paying by check. This means you should choose a payment date at least 2 days prior to the due date on your bill when paying electronically.
You can schedule a one-time payment or recurring payments. The payment must be scheduled by 6:00 a.m.EST to be withdrawn from your account and processed on the current HCU business day. A recurring payment is a payment that is always the same amount and is made at regular intervals. Recurring payments are set up once and can be repeated for up to a 365 period. After 365 days, a new recurring payment must be added. Recurring payments may be weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, last day of the month or quarterly. Weekly payments can be set up to occur on any HCU business day of the week. Bi-weekly payments will occur every other week on the same business day as the initial payment. Monthly payments can be set to occur on any day of the month. For dates that fall on a non-business day or if the process date is invalid (i.e. the 31st day in a month with only 30 days) the request will be processed on the next HCU business day after the entered date.
PAYMENT REMITTANCE
Payment requests may be made through BillPayer 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. However, HCU only processes payments (withdraws and remits the funds) on HCU business days. Payments scheduled after 6:00 a.m. EST will be processed on the following business day. Payments will be made to the payee electronically whenever possible, otherwise payment will be made by check.
CHANGING PAYEE INFORMATION
Select "Modify Payee" to change payee information. Items that can be changed include the payee name and amount. Other changes to payees require that you delete the existing payee and establish a new payee. Changes must be made before 6:00 a.m. EST on any HCU business day in order to be effective for that day. If you delete a payee, all pending payments for the payee must first be deleted. You will receive a confirmation number for any deletions.

ERROR RESOLUTION
Our BillPayer service is subject to Electronic Funds Transfer regulations. Please see our Electronic Funds Transfer disclosure for specific information regarding your rights and responsibilities when using electronic funds transfer services such as BillPayer.
If you believe that a payment failed to reach the payee in the prescribed amount of time, first be sure to identify that the payment was actually withdrawn from your Hawthorne checking account. If payment was withdrawn, verify that the payee name, address and account number are correct. Call the payee to be sure they have not received the payment. If you still need error resolution, please contact HCU by email at memberservice@ehawthorne.org or call HCU during normal business hours at 630-369-4070 (or outside Illinois at 1-800-848-1697). Please supply us with the following information: Your name, social security number, payee name, payee account number, payment processing date, payment amount and the actual payment due date. There is a $15 charge for the resolution process if it is determined that the fault does not lie with HCU or the BillPayer system. We encourage you to allow sufficient time for the payee to receive and post your payment before initiating the resolution process.
