What is a Security Phrase?

The Security Phrase is a phrase that you can remember that helps in verifying that the caller is really the person they claim to be. For example, the credit union may ask you for your mother's maiden name. Then, when someone calls in, if they cannot provide the correct name, they probably are not the owner of this account. In this case, the credit union will not grant access to the account or provide information about the account. Since a credit union may use something other than your mother's maiden name, perhaps date of birth for this purpose, it is now referred to as a Security Phrase so that it identifies this security information regardless of what sort of information is chosen. The Security Phrase is used here to verify that the person requesting access to this account online is really the account's owner.

What is a Media Type?

The Media Type on the Customer Service and Enrollment pages determines how the account owner receives their statements. If you select "Print" your statements are printed and mailed to you. If you select "Electronic" your statements are presented online, but you do not receive a printed version in the mail. (However, you can print them yourself if you have a printer.) After selecting one of the media buttons, click Submit. Your choice will become effective with your next statement.

Am I able to use an older version of either Web browser?

Although some older versions of these Web browsers support the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol and 40-bit encryption, they do not support 128-bit encryption. For greater data security, we recommend that you update your Web browser to version 4.0 or higher, which will support SSL protocol and 128-bit encryption.

How is the integrity of my data maintained using Internet access with SSL protocol?

e-Statements uses the latest Internet security technology and techniques to help ensure that your statement information is as secure as possible. These techniques include user authentication, data encryption, and the use of secure servers, which are designed to keep out potential intruders. e-Statements use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol to encrypt sensitive data prior to transmission over the Internet so it is protected from anyone attempting to read it in transit. Online log monitoring and analysis are conducted to detect break-in attempts and other problems. There is strong encryption between the client and Web server, as well as between the Web server and back-end systems.
