Our Student Advisory Committee meets on Monday for the second time this year. We gathered this group of 10 college students to tell us their experiences with banking, and to help us determine ways to draw in more Gen Y members to the credit union. It was a lively discussion with some great ideas that came out. Here are some of the highlights of what they said:Convenience is very important – including apps on their mobile phone. They like our mobile banking!
Trickery – they hate to be tricked! Their biggest pet peeve with financial institutions is hidden fees and back handed tricks to nickel and dime them.
Three of them were already members of the credit union and they really liked their experience with us. One of the big things they liked was related to the above statement – they can trust us. They believe we will give them straight answers to questions and not try to trick them. They liked our new video, but suggested we make it automatically play when you land our site (not sure if we can do that, but great idea!)
One said that what she likes about her financial institution is that after banking with them for a while because they’re convenient and friendly, they gave her a chance on a credit card when other banks wouldn’t.
They also hate being bugged with irrelevant emails....
Can't wait for our next meeting, and some photos, too!
